Virgil Cross

Virgil Cross with the 119th Field Artillery. They were at Camp MacArthur in Waco, Texas from August, 1917 before heading to France in February, 1918.
General Pershing called the 119th "The legion of hell itself...disheveled and uncut, a rowdy and miscreant lot, who fight like demonic lions and drink like gods, but in all, no better men than to have with you in combat!"

  1. My great-grandfather, Ernest Vielmetti, was a member of the 119th.
