Medals
An older soldier with his group of medals. He certainly has the Iron Cross on the left. Next to that looks like it might be the Order of the Red Eagle followed by the Order of the Crown. 2nd to the right looks like a Cross Service for Officers given for 25 years of service. On the far right is a Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Medal.

This appears to be a practice trench. Nobody is wearing a helmet and there are plenty of footprints all around.

Der erste Schee
Members of the 33rd Infantry Division dealing with the first snow of the winter of 1915 in the Argonne Forrest. It must have caught them by surprise as only a couple of them has on a greatcoat and nobody looks to be wearing gloves. Not until January of 1916 was this soldier was able to send this postcard.

Meyer
Two soldiers from a reserve regiment as indicated by the R stenciled on their helmet covers. The number of the regiment is not legible. The helmet covers are two piece models which were introduced in June of the 1915. That and the great coats would date this picture to the winter months of the year.
Written on the back is the name Meyer.

Trench at Riga
A well maintained trench in a quiet sector at Riga. Too many trees left standing for it to have been an area in Russian artillery range. It also seems shallow as the soldier head is right at the top of the trench.

Erinnerung Feldzug 1914
This photo is marked on the back "Photo Bonnet, Rue du Canteleu 32, Douai". Since they are not yet dressed for winter that would place this at the very beginning of the war. The Germans would occupy Douai until October of 1914 to October of 1918.

Auguste Lemoine
Auguste Lemoine and his fellow members of the 92e regiment. The odd thing here is that two of them lack a row of buttons on their greatcoats. Perhaps this photograph was taken early in the war when the French government had difficulty outfitting the rapidly growing army and not all uniforms were made to the same standards.

Souvenir affectueux je mon sejour a Remes
Sent by Lucien Lamoureux to his dear wife in March of 1918. At least 3 different regiments are represented here. The numbers 25, 80, and 134 can be seen on the hats or collars. A few of them are wearing Croix de Guerre medals.

Steel Helmet Cover
Some examples of the cloth cover for the steel helmet. The army issue covers had leather reinforcing around the helmet lugs and were attached by metal clips. These lack the leather and are held on by a drawstring.
