With Best Wishes From the Boys

Inscribed "Best Wishes From the Boys". Two of them wear the emergency Kitchener Blue uniform given to New Army recruits in early in the war.

5th Sussex (Reserve) Battery, Royal Field Artillery

The painting squad of 5th Sussex (Reserve) Battery, Royal Field Artillery. They left England in October of 1917 for Egypt. After service in the Middle East they were stationed in India where I believe this picture was taken.

Liverpool Scottish

Members of the Liverpool Scottish making a show of reading the latest war news in camp. After being mobilized in August of 1914 they were sent to the defenses on the River Forth. In November they were dispatched to France.

J W Brown

This appears to be a picture of two Royal Fusiliers with the same name of J W Brown. The standing Brown has a wound stripe while the seated Brown shows a good conduct chevron and two overseas chevrons.

This studio portrait of an artilleryman is by Findlow & Company of High Wycombe. He has on his spurs so he was probably a driver.

Women's Army Auxiliary Corps

23rd (County of London) Battalion

Eight members of the 23rd (County of London) Battalion in camp. The one standing at the entrance of  the tent has a Regimental Police armband.

British Military Hospitals

Two views from inside British Military Hospitals. Both include the nursing staff along with the recovering soldiers. Identifiable cap badges include The Prince of Wale's Own (front row, bottom), Royal Fusiliers (bed on right, bottom) and Lincolnshire Regiment (back row, top).

British Wounded

A group of wounded British soldiers recovering at a hospital. At least two of them have injury to their eyes. One in the front row with a bandage across his left eye while in the back row one man has on dark glasses. As sunglasses did not become fashionable until after the war I would assume he is wearing them to protect his damaged eyes.
