Baker and March
On the left is Newton Diehl Baker, Jr., Secretary of War from 1916 to 1921. On the right is General Peyton Conway March. This picture was taken between March and June of 1917 when March had the rank of Brigadier General. He was promoted to Major General in August.

Another Army Tent Fire
"This is what is left of Corp Hummels tent after the fire. The X is me"
The tents here had electric lights as well as a stove so there were at least two possible sources of the fire.

St. Maixent, France
St. Maixent was home to the Air Service Replacement Concentration Barracks. It was the first stop for Air Service personnel arriving in France. It also housed 4 officer training schools.
Jack Landau was 22 at the time this picture was taken. He is listed as a 2nd Lieutenant, Aviation Section, Signal Reserve Corps after the war.

Küchenpersonal
The kitchen personal of 88th Infantry Regiment (2. Nassauisches Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 88) the menu boards for June 24th, 1915. The one on the left is for officers and the other for enlisted men. This was 4 days before they entrained at Jarosław and headed for the Western Front.

Camp Dix, New Jersey
There is a draft registration card for Byron Silence Walton of Philadelphia, PA. His middle name is first written as Silas. That is then crossed out and corrected with Silence. He is also listed as an Infantry Captain in the Officers Reserve Corps after the war.
A faint pencil note at the top of the card states he "Will soon follow this card".

Stanley
A different postcard recently for sale on ebay identified the child as Stanley, mascot of the 50th Infantry, age 5. The other photo featuring the same studio prop and background was taken in November of 1919 in Mayen, Germany. The soldier remains unknown.
