Herbert Albert Krueger

A card from Private Krueger of Brillion, Wisconsin to his father while on occupation duty in Germany. Curiously the card starts off Dear Father but is address to Fred Glassow. Fred is listed on Herbert's draft card as his employer. 

Eagle Boat

This is USS Eagle Boat no. 60. The last of the submarine chasers built by the Ford Motor Company. This one was commissioned in October of 1919.

Returning Troops

Doughboys returning to America. In this case Virginia as indicated by the license plate on the car on the right.

Stanley

A different postcard recently for sale on ebay identified the child as Stanley, mascot of the 50th Infantry, age 5. The other photo featuring the same studio prop and background was taken in November of 1919 in Mayen, Germany. The soldier remains unknown.

Brigadier General

A U.S. Army Brigadier General had this picture taken while in France.

Wilhelm

The curious thing about this card is the black, red and gold on the back. The flag with this color scheme was adopted by the Weimar Republic in 1919 so perhaps this is a postwar photograph.

Gaar Ingels, 75th Artillery C.A.C.

Gaar Ingels of La Fayette, Illinois played the euphonium with the 75th Artillery C.A.C. Here his is in Saint-Nazarie France in January, 1919. The regiment arrived too late to see combat and returned to America in March of 1919.
This card is unusual in that the photo is glued to a postcard instead of being printed on postcard paper.

Walter Kirby

An obituary for Walter Kirby of Lebanon, Ohio listed him as a Sergeant with the 29th Aero Squadron.  He died at Camp Knox on April 30, 1919 at the age of 23. 

Awaiting Arrival of General Allenby

The British entered Constantinople the day after the French in November of 1918. This picture, taken in January of 1919, shows the Army of Occupation waiting for General Allenby.
The flags being displayed are Greek Merchant Navy flags.

Beverloo Camp

Englander Koch

According to the front this Englishman was a mess cook at Wurm in 1918. The back read "Mr. Kaufmann Christmas 1918-easter 1919". Perhaps he was on occupation duty during that time.

Willie just after the war in Glasgow. He wears the cap badge of the Corps of Royal Engineers.

Hohenzollern Bridge

A German postcard belonging to an American referencing the British. The British occupation of Cologne started in December of 1918. They left in 1926.
