The curious thing about this card is the black, red and gold on the back. The flag with this color scheme was adopted by the Weimar Republic in 1919 so perhaps this is a postwar photograph.

A card from Heinz in 1916 showing the battalion away from the trenches but close enough they are not billeted in buildings. A quiet enough area for them to be out waiting for a shave.
