Aerial Photography


Two German photographs showing aerial views of the battlefield. The top shows two very faint trench lines. Soldiers can be seen in the trenches as well as in the area between them. The bottom pictures the remains of a building in a heavily shelled area. It is not clear if there are soldiers among the ruins.

22nd Infantry

A young father from the 22nd Infantry Regiment. The 22nd spent the war in home guard action. First seizing German ships in New York harbor. Company L spent some time at the Frankford Arsenal, Pennsylvania supplying guards for Cramp's Shipbuilding Company in
Philadelphia, PA and Gloucester, NJ.

Bavarian Infantryman

A Bavarian infantryman. He has a Gewehr 88 rifle with a S71 bayonet and Model 1895 ammunition pouches. These were typical of Landwehr regiments.
